THE DAILY LEDGER

Prices ease, a Cosmos EVM flaw reaches six chains, and institutional activity in Japan and South Korea keeps expanding
The market opened the weekend with less enthusiasm than it carried into Friday. Bitcoin and Ether both softened, while sentiment stayed in Greed. The bigger story sat below the price chart: a vulnerability report that was initially cleared turned into a multi-chain incident.
1. The Day in Numbers
- Bitcoin: $77,872 at 16:00 UTC, down 0.7 percent over 24 hours.
- Ethereum: $2,445, down 1.1 percent over 24 hours.
- Fear and Greed Index: 68, Greed, down from 73 the day before.
- Trading conditions: Bitcoin's completed Friday session covered a range of roughly 5.7 percent, a reminder that a modest close can conceal a wide intraday move.
2. Today's Headlines
- Cosmos Labs published a postmortem on a six-chain exploit. Attackers exchanged about $2.87 million through decentralized exchanges and an estimated $2.85 million through centralized venues. Cosmos said its original review wrongly concluded that production configurations were not exposed.
- Bitwise's Solana Staking ETF crossed $1 billion in assets. The fund reached the mark ten months after launch, adding another regulated route into a non-Bitcoin network.
- Japan's SBI took a roughly 20 percent stake in Indonesia's Ajaib. Ajaib described the strategic investment as $270 million. Its platform combines conventional investing with crypto, stablecoins, and institutional settlement services.
- South Korea's Dunamu and Visa announced a stablecoin and AI collaboration. The work will examine payments, remittances, and automated commerce infrastructure. No specific stablecoin was confirmed as the final choice.
3. Security Note
The Cosmos incident is a process failure as much as a software failure. A bug report existed, but the exposure of real production configurations was misunderstood. Users cannot audit every chain's internal triage, so the practical rule is simpler: before bridging or depositing after a security notice, verify the exact software version, the chain's operating status, and whether validators have completed the recommended upgrade. Cosmos EVM releases below v0.6.2 or v0.7.2 were affected.
4. From the Academy Library
The guide to blockchain architecture explains why shared software components can spread one implementation flaw across otherwise separate networks.
A calm market does not mean a quiet system. Read the postmortems, check the versions, and keep exposure small while facts are still changing.
